Infamous 2

My first playthrough of this game was as a good guy. Normally I play evil but in this case I actually had a pretty good time playing the good side of things.

Graphics and Sound:
The game looked nice all around I thought. I enjoyed the comic book style cut scenes. However there were a couple bits through the game in which they did a "fade to black" during things like a big explosion and such. I was disappointed in this. I did all the work in the game to see this big explosion and then you fade to black? screw that.

It also took a little time to get used to the new look and sound of Cole (new voice actor). The new VO did a fine job but I just had to get used to it. It was so different that when my wife first saw the game she thought it was an entirely different character.

The music was pretty nice in this one. I don't normally notice music in games too much but in this one it was noticeable without being forceful which was very nice and it totally fit the theme of the game.

Story:
I will send out another post when I complete the evil side of the game but the good side was surprisingly good to me. The ending choice was somewhat surprising and the actual ending was good and considering I don't normally like endings like this one thats pretty amazing. I have opinions about the ending that I can not share because it's a pretty major spoiler but the end result is that I really enjoyed it.

The story through the majority of the game was entertaining enough, though I do wish that your completion of side missions had a bigger impact on the over all game (story and gameplay). Also there are dead drops which are basically little audio files taped to birds flying around randomly through out the city. I got all but 1 of these birds and have no idea where the last one might be. I wish the game had included some way to see these from really large distances similar to how you find other ingame objects because the information given on these birds is fun little tidbits of the story and fills in gaps.

Gameplay:
The gameplay was improved from the last game, the combat was alot of fun with improved melee options and lots of different powers to choose from to use.

Having to mash the X button to climb buildings got a little old after a while and there is an Electric tether power that you get which I really wish would have been given much earlier in the game because it really made it fun to just run around the city climbing to the tallest parts of buildings and such.

Overall:
I really enjoyed this game and it easily paid for itself by my standards for entertainment pricing ($2 = 1 hour of entertainment). My first playthrough was about 23-25 hours and I will easily get more from playing through the game a second time as an evil guy. All in all I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes action games.
